Eduscopio 2020 has just been released. Since 2014 the Agnelli Foundation portal has helped students and their families to compare the extensive educational offer of secondary schools. The idea behind the project is to compare the same type of high schools, city by city within the same area, using specific parameters to assess school quality. Eduscopio provides an updated overview of the capability of secondary schools to prepare their students for labour market or University, by analysing university students’ performance coming from the same type of school (such as number of exams taken, credits and grades during the first year of University) or the number of graduates entering the labour market (for instance the percentage of employed high school graduates).
For this year’s edition, Eduscopio analysed data regarding 1,275,000 Italian secondary school graduates from 7,400 schools in three consecutive years (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17). Data are available at www.eduscopio.it.
How did the Mad for science winning schools - the competition sponsored by DiaSorin in its first four editions and now promoted by the DiaSorin Foundation - rank?
The Scientific High School Ariosto Spallanzani in Reggio Emilia, which won first place in the 2019 Competition, has had a very high score of 93.48 (out of 100) and is the top Scientific High School not only in Reggio Emilia but in the whole region. Similarly, the Scientific High School Giuseppe Battaglini, which won second place in the 2019 edition, is the top Scientific High School in the area of Taranto and Puglia, according to Eduscopio ranking. Last editions’ winners - the Scientific High School Nicola Pellati in Nizza Monferrato, the Augusto Monti in Asti and the Scientific High School Da Vinci in Trento - have had very high scores, too.
