This year, as in the past, the Genoa Science Festival features shows, workshops, webinars and meetings to help students, teachers and families explore science. A brand-new edition with a dual role: digital for the numerous schools attending the festival every year and on-site for families and science lovers. A number of meetings, exhibitions and scientific shows will take place at the Festivals’ historical venues, such as Palazzo Ducale and Porto Antico, but also in Genoa’s main museum and theatres.
The keyword reflecting the theme chosen by the Scientific Committee and on which will focus the Festival’s initiatives is “Waves”. The Festival will feature conferences on gravitational waves, workshops on geophysics applied to the research of ancient wrecks, exhibitions exploring human cells adaptation to space, workshops on waves, lines and colors between art and science. The event also features a wide range of activities for schools: students and teachers from primary schools to high schools will experience interactive workshops, webinars and virtual tours of the main Italian and European research institutes.
An important focus will be on the Covid-19 pandemic in order to provide a clear vision of the period we are experiencing and a more detailed insight into data and future prospects. The Festival features “The Covid Wave: understanding to react”, a series of meetings with renowned scientific researchers. The eight meetings will be held every day in the early evening to support audience participation and will be streamed. The project, involving 25 scientists, has been developed together with the Bo Live of the University in Padua and with the scientific coordination of Professor Antonella Viola, an internationally renowned immunologist.
